Teen and Adult Beginning Knit

Three Sessions, 1 1/2 Hour Each with Holly, Susan, and Patricia

Happy 2026!!  Good news for those starting off the New Year with a new fiber adventure.  At Great Yarns we've expanded and extended our Beginning Knit series so that new knitters will build a foundation that will help them to move forward in a confident, skill-based way.  Each Beginning series will include three sessions instead of two, and we'll offer subsequent classes that build upon your skills in a logical way.    

Here's what our Beginning Series includes:

Session One:

• Casting On
• The Knit Stitch 
• How to TINK (knit backwards) and correct knit stitches

Session Two:

• The Purl Stitch
• Binding Off
• Tinking a purl stitch
• Weaving in ends
• Reading stitches to distinguish a knit from a purl
• Reading a simple pattern

Session Three:

• Working in the round
• Knitting and Purling in the same row 
• Joining new balls of yarn
• How to find and fix a dropped stitch
• Ravelry Overview

Projects will be a simple stuffed bunny (It's magic!), a dishcloth, and a warm and cozy chunky cowl.  Even better, our series includes ALL of your materials:

Two sets of needles, one straight and one circular

Tinking Tool
